Getting from Mumbai Airport to the City in 2026 — All Your Options

Mumbai’s airport has two terminals. T2 handles international flights and most major domestic carriers (IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, Akasa). T1 handles some budget domestic airlines. Check your boarding pass to confirm which terminal you land at — they are 3km apart.

Option 1: Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) from T2 — recommended

Since October 2025, Line 3 has a dedicated underground station inside T2. This is the fastest and cheapest way into the city for T2 arrivals, completely unaffected by road traffic.

Times and fares from CSIA T2 metro station:
– Andheri (Western Railway interchange): 10–12 minutes, approx ₹20
– BKC (Bandra-Kurla Complex): 15–20 minutes, approx ₹30
– Worli: 20–25 minutes, approx ₹40
– CSMT (South Mumbai): 35–40 minutes, approx ₹50
– Churchgate: 38–42 minutes, approx ₹55–₹60

How to access: Follow “Metro” signs from T2 arrivals. The station is inside the terminal building. Operates approximately 6:00am to 11:00pm.

For T1 arrivals: Take a cab or auto (₹100–₹200, 10–15 minutes) to Andheri station, then use the Western Line local train or Metro from Andheri.

Option 2: Local train from Andheri

The cheapest option overall. From T2, take a cab or auto (₹150–₹250) to Andheri railway station (5–10 minutes). At Andheri, board a Western Line southbound local.

– Andheri to Bandra: 10 minutes, ₹10
– Andheri to Dadar: 20 minutes, ₹10–₹15
– Andheri to Churchgate: 45 minutes, ₹15–₹20

Not recommended during peak hours (8–10am, 6–8pm) with large luggage. Off-peak, perfectly manageable for one bag.

Option 3: Uber or Ola

Most straightforward for first visits. App-based, price shown before booking.

– T2 to Bandra: ₹200–₹350, 20–45 minutes
– T2 to BKC: ₹200–₹300, 15–30 minutes
– T2 to South Mumbai / Nariman Point: ₹400–₹600, 45–90 minutes

Traffic is the major variable. The same journey that takes 30 minutes at 10pm can take 90 minutes at 9am. Line 3 metro takes 40 minutes regardless.

Option 4: Prepaid taxi

Official prepaid taxi counter just outside T2 arrivals. Fixed fares, no negotiation. Pay at the counter, receive a slip, hand it to the driver. Rates similar to Uber.

When to use what

Daytime T2 arrival to South Mumbai or BKC → Metro Line 3
Daytime T2 arrival to western suburbs (Bandra, Andheri) → local train from Andheri
Night arrival after 11pm → Uber or Ola
T1 arrival → cab to Andheri + local train or metro
Heavy luggage + first visit → Uber or Ola
