Mumbai Western Line Guide — Churchgate to Virar: All Stations 2026

The Western Line is Mumbai’s busiest railway corridor, running 60km from Churchgate in South Mumbai north to Virar. It passes through the city’s most commercially and culturally active zones.

 

South Mumbai and lower suburbs (Churchgate to Dadar)

Churchgate — Western Line southern terminus. Starting point for all northbound services. Marine Drive is a short walk. Metro Line 3 has a nearby station.

Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road — Residential South Mumbai stations close to the seafront and historic neighbourhoods. Slow train stops only.

Mumbai Central — Major intercity rail terminus alongside the suburban station. Fast train halt.

Mahalaxmi — Access to the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Haji Ali Dargah, and the famous Dhobi Ghat at Mahalaxmi Bridge.

Dadar (W) — Primary interchange of the city. Walk to Dadar (Central) on the Central Line in 10 minutes. Fast train halt on both lines.

 

Mid-suburbs (Dadar to Andheri)

Mahim — Gateway to Bandra via the Mahim Causeway. Auto-rickshaws available here.

Bandra — One of Mumbai’s most visited neighbourhoods — restaurants, Bandra Fort, Bandstand, sea link views. Fast train halt.

Khar Road, Santacruz, Vile Parle — Upscale western suburbs close to the domestic airport.

Andheri — Major interchange. Metro Lines 1, 2A, and 7 all connect here. Andheri East is a major corporate zone. Fast train halt.

 

North suburbs (Andheri to Virar)

Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Malad — Large residential and commercial suburbs. Malad is a fast train halt.

Borivali — Fast train halt. Gateway to Sanjay Gandhi National Park (Borivali East entrance).

Mira Road, Bhayander — Outer Mumbai Metropolitan Region suburbs. Mira Road is a fast train halt.

Vasai Road — Junction connecting to the Vasai-Diva cross-route.

Nalasopara, Virar — Northern terminals for most Western Line services.

Dahanu Road — Some extended services continue here from Virar (~95km from Churchgate).

 

Fast train halts on the Western Line

Churchgate, Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Mumbai Central, Mahalaxmi, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Goregaon, Malad, Borivali, Mira Road, Vasai Road, Nalasopara, Virar.

All other stations: slow trains only.
